2011 - Norway
Introduction
This year we returned to the North Cape in Norway. Our last visit there was in 1997. That year we cycled from the Netherlands all the way to the most northern point of Europe. This summer we started in Bodø, then cycled through the Lofoten to the North Cape. From the North Cape we cycled to Kirkenes, which was to be our end destination.
The stories and photo's of this trip of this trip can be found below.

The Lofoten
We start our cycling trip through northern Norway in Bodø. There we first take the ferry to Moskenes on the Lofoten. We arrive at a very scenic Lofoten. On the E10 we cycle to the north on a reasonable small road. We meet a lot of other cyclists on the road. We cycle towards the E6 by the 825 from Tjeldsundbrua. We only stay very shortly on the E6, beacuase we take 84 towards Botnhamn where we take the ferry (National Cycling Route 1) to Brensholmen. From there we have a realy beautiful cycling trip through the fjords to Tromsø

Tromsø - Nordkapp
From Tromsø we follow the E8 and 91 to Breidvik. There we take the ferry to Svensby. What folows is a beautiful road towards Lyngseidet, where we take another ferry to Olderdalen. We then have reached the E6 again. From Russenes we do not follow the E69, but we go by the 889 to Havøysund. This road takes us trhough a beautiful vulcanic surroundings. Because it's a quiet road, we see a lot of reindeer and even a fox. In Havøysund we take the Hurtigruten to Honningsvåg. From there we cycle to the North Cape (Nordkapp) through very thick fog and stormy winds.

We cycle through the long Nordkapp Tunnel (6870 m) towards Russenes and Lakselv all the way to Vardø. In vardø we take the Hurigrutten to Kirkenes. From Kirkeness we first visit the Russian border and then go to the camping to enjoy the last few sunny days in Norway before we return home by plane.

Reached the end of our trip; Kirkenes
It has again been a very beautiful cycling trip, which we both enjoyed very much. Especially meeting all the nice people we met along our trip was great. Perhaps we'll meet each other again on one of our next cycling trips.
